AiM Wireless Steering Wheel Backing Plate The battery in this button plate is a standard CR2 lithium cell with a guaranteed life of 3 years or 50,000 miles, and it reports its own voltage: the plate transmits it to the CAN receiver, which forwards it to your AiM device, giving around 30 days' notice before it needs changing. The plate bolts between the steering wheel and the boss and talks to the receiver over an RF link, so there is no coiled cable to the dash and nothing to disconnect on a detachable wheel. The receiver is small enough to sit behind the dashboard and connects to your AiM CAN device with the supplied Binder harness. With an AiM PDM and RaceStudio 3, each momentary button can be set to behave as a simple latching switch or given more complex control logic.
