Isamu Noguchi AKARI 1A Table Lamp Designed by renowned Japanese-American artist and sculptor Isamu Noguchi, the AKARI 1A is one of the most recognisable designs from his celebrated Akari Light Sculptures — a collection that brings together traditional Japanese craftsmanship and modernist design. Handcrafted in Gifu, Japan by Ozeki, the 1A features a softly rounded shade made from traditional washi paper, supported by delicate bamboo ribbing and a slender metal tripod frame. Its simple, balanced form gives the lamp a timeless sculptural quality while allowing the natural texture of the washi to remain beautifully visible. When illuminated, the washi gently diffuses the light, creating a warm and calming glow. Compact and versatile, the AKARI 1A is ideal for a bedside table, side table, shelf, or low cabinet, bringing soft ambient light and sculptural character to the space. Each AKARI is individually handcrafted, with subtle variations in the washi and bamboo reflecting the beauty of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.
