The Akila is the first B/Type 1 ice axe to achieve such a high level of technicality in the ultralight category. The head is made of Chromoly steel and optimized for durability whi le maintaining a minimal weight. The reverse curve shape and taper of the pick makes for solid placements in ice or thin cracks. The hammer is ideal for testing and placing pitons in a wide variety of terrain. The Akila is short enough (49cm), light (345g), and compact enough to be easily stored in a backpack. The integrated Tech Pommel is a compact trigger rest that can be tucked out of the way on less technical sections and deployed for a confident grip in steep neve and ice.
