Al Hind III is a tour de force — robust, strong, and very masculine. From the bottle, it carries a beautiful sweet resinous note, almost a sweet cola quality, which would be quite unique for any oil from the Assam–Sylhet corridor. On the skin, what emerges is a light cappuccino-with-cream scent. With oils from this region, one normally encounters a very dark, strong coffee note — almost certainly a function of the fermentation process the wood has been through — but Al Hind III, due to the quality of the underlying material, delivers something altogether lighter. A coffee-cappuccino-fudge note that is easy and pleasant on the skin, and that demonstrates the upper-class ceiling of what this regional combination can produce. As the dry down continues, an almost mentholic, camphorous note emerges. The evolution from the initial sweet, toffee-like opening to the camphorous character is genuinely striking, demonstrating the remarkable complexity of this oil and the level of distillation control that produced it. We see Al Hind III as one of the most rewarding multi-origin Indo-Bangladeshi distillations we have offered through Kinana. The price reflects the quality of the work; the work reflects what serious Hindi terroir can do when handled with proper respect. Sylhet, Bangladesh. 2022
