Albacor Comuna figs can be identified by their long, oval shape and large size. The large figs are covered in dark black skin that will crackle when ripe. Growers note the importance of leaving these figs on the tree until fully ripe. With good attachment to the tree, it’s worth it to leave Albacor Comuna figs to hang until they are slightly shriveled to get the most flavor. This variety tends to begin ripening in mid August, depending on growing conditions. When ripe, Albacor Comuna figs have a complex, dark berry flavor. This is a Black Mission variety that is very sweet and juicy. The figs have a thicker skin that will exhibit marked crackling when ripe. Albacor Comuna figs contain red pulp, and the common variety does not require wasp pollination. These trees are known to be highly productive, bearing large figs and 3- and 5-lobed leaves. Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December): We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March. **All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees. Rooted Cuttings(Spring): We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span.
