Historical Significance: The Albert chain is a 19th-century Victorian-era watch chain, named after Prince Albert (consort to Queen Victoria), who popularized the style. Designed originally for men to secure pocket watches to waistcoats via a T-bar, these styles evolved into staple fashion accessories among women today. The “T bar” charm was originally used to anchor the chain through a buttonhole on a waistcoat, while the dog clip clasp attached to a pocket watch. Historically it has been said that women wore them around their neck when their husbands went away to war to keep their “sweet heart” close.
