Forming a mound up to 45cm tall, the softly-felted, pale green leaves of Alchemilla 'Irish Silk' are famous for holding morning dew like shimmering pearls. From late spring, this alchemilla produces strong stems bearing abundant clusters of tiny, yellow-green flowers that bring a luminescent quality to garden borders. Thanks to its sturdy stems and frothy texture, it is highly-prized by florists as an excellent, long-lasting filler for cut flower arrangements. It's an incredibly versatile and low-maintenance perennial, thriving in both full sun and partial shade, while gently softening the hard edges of pathways. The genus is named after 'alchemy' because ancient alchemists believed the water droplets caught on its leaves held magical properties!
