ALEPPO PEPPER is made from the Halaby pepper. It is named after the town of Aleppo in Syria. It has a nice, medium heat and a full, rich, tart and fruity flavour. Due to the ongoin g civil war in Syria, most of the ALEPPO PEPPER production has moved to Turkey. ALEPPO is used in Middle Eastern cooking (soups, salads, fish and kebabs). This chili has enough tomato fruitiness to be used in place of CHILI FLAKES in Italian cooking. A simple ALEPPO butter is a great condiment to top off many dishes. It is great on poached eggs, grilled vegetables, mashed potatoes, gnocchi...
