Tagtraumtelefonie continues this trajectory, generating a continuous stream of mental imagery. The photographs bear resemblance to field recordings in ambient music—intangible visual sequences devoid of explicit narrative or predetermined interpretation. Tagtraumtelefonie interweaves disparate landscapes, temporalities, and emotional states, spanning from the rugged expanse of the coastline to dense forests, from macro perspectives to abstract interactions of light and shadow. Rejecting the precision of modern high-tech lenses, Alexander instead experiments with vintage optics, filters and prisms. This approach introduces an element of unpredictability, positioning his work deliberately beyond conscious, rational control.
