Alfamino Junior is an amino acid-based nutritional formula for children with severe cow's milk protein allergy, multiple food protein allergies, or other conditions requiring an elemental diet. 400 g, unflavoured. Please use only under medical supervision This is a specialised medical nutrition product, not a general infant or toddler formula. It should be used only when a physician, paediatrician or registered dietitian has assessed your child and specifically recommended an amino acid-based formula — and at the dilution and volume they specify. If you believe your child has a food allergy, please see your doctor rather than switching formulas independently. Symptoms that look like allergy can have other causes, and children on restricted diets need proper monitoring of growth and nutritional status. What "amino acid-based" means Most formulas contain intact cow's milk protein. Extensively hydrolysed formulas contain protein broken into small fragments. Alfamino goes a step further: the protein is supplied entirely as individual free amino acids, so there are no peptide fragments left for the immune system to react to. That's why it's used when a child has reacted even to hydrolysed formulas. Preparation matters Follow the preparation instructions on the tin and your healthcare provider's directions precisely. Use the scoop supplied, measure accurately, and prepare with water at the temperature stated. Never dilute more or less than instructed — over-dilution can cause nutritional shortfall, and under-dilution can strain a young child's kidneys. Prepare each feed fresh where possible, use within the timeframe specified, and discard any unfinished feed rather than re-using it. Storage Store unopened tins in a cool, dry place. Once opened, keep the lid closed, store dry, and use within the period stated on the packaging. Do not use after the expiry date or if the tin is damaged. Coverage Specialised formulas like this are often eligible for coverage under private insurance or provincial programs with the appropriate documentation from your prescriber.
