AliMed® AliPlast™ 6A is a medium-grade thermoplastic foam with a 34 durometer (Shore A) firmness level. Effective for constructing foot orthotics, nonrigid splints, and body jacket liners. Lightweight cross-linked, closed-cell polyethylene foam is heat-moldable with an impervious surface that won't absorb perspiration, bacteria, or odors. Smooth skin is tough, durable, and easy to clean. Available in two heights: 1/8" and 1/4" in Buff or White sold by the sheet, case of sheets, or roll.Sheet: 24"W x 29"L x 1/8"H, White; 24"W x 29-1/2"L x 1/4"H, White; 24"W x 31-1/2"L x 1/8"H, Buff Roll: 29"W x 81-1/3'L x 1/8"H, WhitePhysical Properties of AliPlast 6A: Oven Temperature (°F): 250 to 325 • Density (lbs./cu. ft.): 6 • Tensile Strength (PSI): 110-140; 20 in./min. When cool, it regains its original cushioning and rigidity. Softer varieties can be molded directly to the body while firmer styles are better molded first to a plaster cast to avoid danger of burns. When surfaces of two heated pieces are brought together, a permanent bond will result. AliPlast can be vacuum-formed and is auto-adhesive. Polyolefin base creates a uniquely durable bond with polyethylene or polypropylene and can be used to adhere these difficult-to-bond materials together, saving considerable time and effort when forming orthotics. AliPlast shrinks along the grain when heated, and its thickness increases. To compensate for shrinkage, stretch the material during molding. Chemically inert, hypoallergenic, and safe for virtually any orthotic or prosthetic application.
