Add 5.00 mL of aquarium water to the vial. Add 2 drops of Reagent A. Swirl gently. The sample should turn blue. Fill the 1 mL syringe with Reagent B titrant. Add Reagent B slowly while swirling. Stop at the first stable colour change from blue to red. Record how many mL of Reagent B were used. Calculation dKH = mL of Reagent B used x 10 Example: if you use 0.80 mL of Reagent B, the result is 8.0 dKH. Recommended Reef Range Many reef aquariums are maintained around 7.0 to 9.5 dKH, depending on the system, coral demand, salt mix, and dosing approach. Tips for Best Accuracy Read syringes at eye level. Swirl continuously as you approach the endpoint. Add Reagent B slowly near the colour change. Repeat the test if the endpoint is difficult to judge. Rinse the vial and syringes with fresh water after testing. For saltwater aquarium testing only. Store reagents sealed and out of reach of children.
