About This Wine Grenache is the Southern Rhone darling and needs warm to hot days during the growing season to exhibit its seductive fruit aromatics. Based in the Yarra Valley, Stu from Alkimi looked towards the Humis vineyard in northern Heathcote instead for his Grenache. Harvest was decided when the tannins were ripe yet the fruit flavours were bright and youthful. The grapes were divided into three seperate ferments, all coming together to create a fresh, super bright and complex Grenache. A lot of complexity here and acidity will drive this Grenache for years to come. Alkimi is the project of winemaker Stu Dudine whose love affair with Rhone varieties has landed him in the Yarra Valley. Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are the classics here with some Rhone varieties gaining seriously great reputation. Stu's wines are made with only the most fundamental winemaking practices in mind, often unfined and unfiltered along with minimal sulphur use. Show more
