I incorporated reading comprehension questions because we all know that decoding without comprehending is meaningless. For fluency practice, you will find three happy faces at the bottom right of the passages. These faces can be colored or checked each time the student reads. I’ve used these passages during guided reading groups, to introduce and review phonics skills, as a cold read, for comprehension practice, for homework, and even as an assessment.
