The Allevyn Adhesive is an absorbent hydrocellular foam dressing with an adhesive perforated wound-contact layer, for exuding wounds. Smith & Nephew describes its purpose as managi ng exudate while keeping a moist wound environment, and the adhesive layer holds it in place without separate tape. It suits wounds where you want absorbency and a secure dressing in one piece. The foam pad draws in and holds fluid. Smith & Nephew builds the dressing as a hydrocellular foam pad held between an adhesive perforated wound-contact layer and a highly permeable outer film, so the pad absorbs and retains exudate while moisture vapour passes out through the film. The waterproof film helps keep out fluid and bacteria while the dressing remains intact (Smith & Nephew), and the conformable foam moulds to awkward areas. It is supplied single use, one dressing per pack. Stocked in seven options, from 7.5cm x 7.5cm up to 22.5cm x 22.5cm, plus small and large sacrum shapes for the lower back.
