Aloe 'Carmine' is a compact, evergreen succulent hybrid valued for its colorful foliage and adaptability to both indoor and outdoor environments. Growing 6 to 10 inches tall and 8 to 12 inches wide, it forms slow-growing rosettes with fleshy, pale green leaves accented by orange stippling and bright orange-red fringed margins. Depending on light and water conditions, the foliage may develop blue-green and red hues, with a glaucous texture adding to its ornamental appeal. Blooming throughout the year, it produces red and salmon-colored flowers that attract hummingbirds and beneficial insects. Developed for drought tolerance and ornamental use, its specific breeding history remains unclear. Thriving in full sun to dappled shade, it prefers well-draining, rocky soil and occasional watering, remaining dry in winter to prevent rot. Highly resistant to heat, deer, and rabbits, it is also tolerant of verticillium wilt. Hardy to USDA Zone 9b, it withstands temperatures down to 25–30°F but requires protection in colder climates.
