Lock the cap onto the base by twisting the yellow knob. STEP 3: Once the cap is locked to the base, turn the black part of the cap until the adjacent tiles are level; no need to over-tighten STEP 4: After the thin-set has cured, break off caps and bases with a mallet or your foot. It's important to break the caps loose by hitting them in the direction of the top of the spacer base (in line with the grout joint). STEP 5: Remove the broken piece of the bases from the caps by unlocking the cap from the base spindle using the yellow knob.
