The Alpilles are a miniature mountain range characterized by rugged limestone outcrops, old olive groves, and rocky vine rows lit by a sky so magnificent it inspired the most productive period of Van Gogh’s career during his year-long stint in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence. Another notable resident of Saint-Rémy is Dominique Hauvette, who arrived four decades ago when she pulled the ripcord on her career as a Parisian lawyer, acquired some vineyard land, and set out on the road to becoming a legend of Provençal wine. All her farming is down organically and biodynamically, with fermentations utilizing indigenous yeasts, and her Cornaline wine, a blend of 50% Grenache, 30% Syrah, and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, exemplifies the unique and inimitable character of her wines. Her wines have the innate ability to transport you to the southern coast of France, and channels the beauty that struck one of the world's great artists with awe. Full raspberry, black currant and blackberry, along with cherry, with loads of garrigue and spices. This is a herbaceous and savory red with structure and energy. 12.5% ABV
