Alpine Status bass powerhouse Alpine's Status System components will play your high-resolution music with incredible high-quality, studio-level purity and sonic fidelity, with a low-frequency impact that'll leave you breathless — almost like the bass and drums are playing inside your car. The HDA-M80 mono subwoofer amplifier produces up to 800 watts RMS, so you can be sure you'll get the big sound you want, with every musical beat felt clearly. Hidden controls and plug-in connectors The amp's tuning controls sit protected under a removable top panel. Adjustable low-pass, subsonic, and bass boost controls shape the amplified signal to match your particular subwoofer, so it'll sound its best. All connections are on one side of the amp, with nifty speaker and power wire plugs, making the amp easy to install or remove while ensuring tight, noise-free connections. There's also a provision for adding an optional wired remote level control so you can tweak your sub's volume from the front seat. It is stable down to 2Ω. Class D Amplifier Design: The amplifier design is Class D, which uses digital switching power supplies. The result is the amplifier runs more efficiently, generating less heat than Class AB amps. Power Specifications: 4Ω: 500 watts RMS x 1 2Ω: 800 watts RMS x 1 Hidden Controls: All the amplifier's audio controls are hidden under a removable top panel: Gain: rotary gain control Crossovers: separate crossover controls for the front, rear, and sub channels LP Filter: rotary frequency control; variable from 50 Hz to 400 Hz; 24 dB/octave slope; the low pass filter is always engaged (it cannot be bypassed) Sub Sonic: rotary frequency control; variable from 8 Hz to 40 Hz; 24 dB/octave slope; used to remove extremely low frequencies that can't be cleanly reproduced by the subwoofer Bass EQ: increase the subwoofer channel bass level between 0dB and +12dB via the rotary control; centered at 50 Hz Optional Remote Bass Control: The amplifier has an RJ-25 modular jack for adding an optional wired remote to control the bass output level, RUX-KNOB.2 or RUX-H01, both sold separately. Both have a 20dB adjustment range. Terminal Layout: For wiring convenience, all of the inputs and outputs on the amplifier are on one side. Quick Connect Plugs: The Alpine Status series amplifiers use quick connect plugs to attach your system's speaker wires and power cables to the amp for a simple, error-free installation. The quick connect plugs have set screw terminals that are tightened/loosened using the supplied hex wrenches. The power, ground, and remote turn-on connections are made to a single quick connect plug. The power and ground terminals will accept up to 4-gauge (recommended) wire, while the remote terminal will accept up to 12-gauge. The quick connect plug for connecting the speaker wires has terminals for two speakers, which allows you to easily connect two subwoofers or a single dual voice coil sub. The speaker terminals will accept up to 12-gauge wire. Audio Input: There are stereo RCA jacks for connecting low-level or high-level input signals. If connecting the source unit's speaker wire to the input jacks, you can use a Speaker-to-RCA adapter or splice an RCA plug onto the speaker wire. When using a high-level input signal, it may not be necessary to connect a remote turn-on lead because of the amplifier's remote sensing function. Input Level: There is a 2-position switch to choose the input level range for the RCA inputs; High (400 mV-10 V) or Low (100 mV-4 V). Fuses: The amp is equipped with three 30-amp ATO fuses; a 90-amp (minimum) external fuse should be placed on the +12V power wire within 18" of the battery.
