About the Alpine R2-SB12V Twice the bass Alpine's Halo Series subwoofer enclosures make it simple to add bass (and more bass) to your system. You'll get great bass response from a single box, and when you're ready to expand your system you can add a second enclosure and the optional linking kit to create a two-speaker system with double the impact. Laying it down The R2-SB12V comes loaded with Alpine's updated R2-W12D4 subwoofer wired for 2-ohm impedance, for solid bass response at power levels up to 750 watts RMS. The ported enclosure is made of rugged 3/4" MDF with a stylish black carpet covering and is tuned to 35 Hz to maximize the lows. Putting it together Two R2-SB12V enclosures can be linked using Alpine's KTX-H12 linking kit (sold separately). Heavy-duty steel front and rear linking brackets connect the enclosures for a compact, sturdy dual-subwoofer solution. The silver linking brackets match the enclosure's trim for a neat, coordinated look. The next generation R-Series driver features a Kevlar-reinforced pulp cone with a polypropylene/ceramic composite dust cap and a High-Amplitude Multi-Roll (H.A.M.R.) surround. The driver also features two large double-stacked strontium-ferrite magnets for increased motor strength and excursion. A custom-designed cast aluminum frame and a dual-flare pole vent optimize airflow for driver cooling. Both 4-ohm voice coils are wired in parallel for a single 2-ohm connection. Power Handling: The R2-SB12V can handle 300-750W RMS (2250W peak). Enclosure: The R2-SB12V's ported enclosure design has been optimized for use with the R2-W12D4 driver, and has been tuned to 35Hz for deep, powerful bass. It features a rigid, heavy-duty MDF construction that's been wrapped in attractive black carpet, with a smooth black finish and silver trim on the front face. Enclosure Linking (Optional): The R2-SB12V's unique design allows it to be linked to an additional R2-SB12V (sold separately) using the optional KTX-H12 linking kit. This features an aluminum rear link-plate and an attractive, steel-reinforced ABS front linking bracket that securely locks the two enclosures together. Subwoofer Grille (Optional): The Alpine R2-SB12V does not include a grille for the driver, but can be used with the optional Alpine KTE-12G.3 steel mesh grille (sold separately).
