Altus Hops for Dank Resin, Tangerine, and High-Impact Brewing Character Altus is a U.S. grown hop, offered here in standard T-90 pellet form and built for brewers who want strong bittering potential without giving up late-hop character. Released by Hopsteiner in 2020 after being known as experimental variety X07270, Altus was developed from an Apollo x Wye Target cross and was designed to bring together high alpha performance with a more expressive aroma profile. That background helps explain why Altus stands out as more than just another high-alpha workhorse. It has the intensity needed for bittering, but it also carries enough oil and character to stay relevant in late additions and dry hopping, especially when a brewer wants a firmer, more resinous hop profile with some citrus lift. Flavor and Brewing Character Altus is known for spicy, dank, and resinous character, backed by tangerine, herbal notes, and a slightly grassy edge. It leans more assertive than delicate, making it a good fit for brewers who want a hop with real structure and presence in the glass. In the brewhouse, Altus is well suited to bittering, late additions, and dry hopping. Its high alpha acid range and substantial oil content make it a true dual-purpose hop, and it fits naturally in West Coast IPAs, pale ales, triple IPAs, and even certain modern lagers where a more forceful hop profile is welcome. Why Brewers Choose Altus Brewers looking for a modern high-alpha hop with more personality than a basic bittering charge should take a serious look at Altus. It gives you the efficiency and punch expected from a high-alpha variety, while still bringing enough aroma and flavor character to play a meaningful role later in the process.
