The Ott family has been growing and producing wine in Wagram in Lower Austria since 1889. Bernhard Ott, the fourth generation to manage the winery, took the helm from his father in 1993 at the age of 21 years old, determined to produce wines of the highest quality. He replaced the old wooden casks used in the past with stainless steel and eventually Stockinger fuders. He has continued to inovate and push the winery forward over the years, introducing organic farming, then biodynamics, and whole-cluster fermentations. Grapes are harvested by hand before going through a strict selection process, before gently being pressed and fermented with wild yeast. The resulting wines are some of the very finest in all of Austria. The 'Am Berg' label is harvested from various plots in and around Feuersbrunn, Engabrunn and Grossriedenthal, is fermented and matured in stainless steel and shows unmistakably Grüner-like qualities of white pepper and asparagus surrounded by lime zest and wet stone, with an almost Riesling-like freshness and precision. 12.0% ABV Show more
