This hardy annual has vibrant, ornamental red, yellow, and green foliage that lends a tropical effect to the garden. Also known as Chinese Spinach, leaves of the Amaranthus species are used as an edible leafy green and are rich in minerals and vitamins! Mature ht 5 ft. Planting Instructions Sow seed outdoors as soon as soil can be worked. Cover seed very lightly and keep the soil moist until all seedlings appear. For earlier flowers start seed indoors 2 to 3 weeks in advance of intended date for moving the plants to the garden. Lightly cover the seed with soil. Germinates best at at 21°C, usually in 7 to 14 days. Grow on at 18°C. These plants prefer a hot, dry location with good drainage.
