Amarcord is a dark fig with distinct coloring. The skin is made up of murky green and purple colors that give the fig its black look. The skin will appear crackled and slightly shriveled when ripe. The figs are round in shape and can also be squat or flattened. The squat appearance is what leads many to compare Amarcord to the Black Zadar variety, although growers have noted differences when grown side-by-side. Inside, the fig can often have a beautiful mixture of red and amber pulp that gives that "sunset" effect. For the best concentration of flavor, it is recommended to leave Amarcord figs to hang on the tree until slightly dried. Amarcord figs have a complex and intense flavor of raspberry, berries, and honey. The figs are very juicy, with a little tartness to round out the flavor. Amarcord has a good seed crunch, and a flavor that is highly desired by many collectors! Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December): We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March. **All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees. Rooted Cuttings(Spring): We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span.
