These sets of gemstone d4s and d6s each include one Quartz die, one Amazonite die, and one Amethyst die. I designed these dice and launched with the support of over 1,300 backers o n Kickstarter. Features include a new d4 shape, a more enjoyable size, and mathematically balanced numbering layouts. An elegant case for storage and display is included!Designing the Hex d4: I was never quite satisfied with the d4. The tetrahedron is a terrifying caltrop that doesn't roll well. I never fell in love with the "shard" or the "double wedge". The "crystal" d4 worked ok, but with its rectangular and triangular faces it just wasn't very pretty. After many iterations I came up with a stunning d4 design that I call the Hex d4.Numbering Design: I spent hours writing and running programs to balance the number placement on all my dice, including the d4 and d6. I go much deeper on the Kickstarter page if you are super nerdy about this stuff like I am. I talk about different balancing metrics and why it is actually a bad idea for the opposite sides of a d20 to add to 21. People have called my dice "mathematically perfect", but I disagree with that. There are many balancing metrics such as half sums, vertex sums, opposite pairs, etc. and prioritizing them is inherently somewhat subjective. However, I think my layouts are the best ever made and I could spend hours telling you why :DSize: I like my dice a bit bigger. My 19mm d6s are 67% larger by volume than standard d6s.
