About The Amelie Beret is a take on the classic French style beret inspired by, of course, the city of lights. I’ve always adored how such a simple accessory can add so much to any outfit. The Amelie Beret is worked by beginning with a provisional cast on, then knit from the bottom up in the round, with increases and decreases used to shape the crown. Skill Level Beginner Techniques This pattern uses the following techniques: knit, purl, provisional cast on, circular knitting, increases, decreases, i-cord. Size Guide S (M, L) - 21 (22, 23) inches / 54 (56, 58) cm approximate fit. This size is to fit around the circumference of the head. Gauge Measure to 26 sts and 26 rows = 4 inches /10 cm in gingham pattern on 4.5 mm [US 7] circular needles, blocked. Materials Suggested Needles 4 mm DPNS [US 6] for the top cord. 4.5 mm [US 7] circular needles 16 inches / 40 cm (metal circular needles) for the brim. 5 mm [US 8] circular needles 16 inches / 40 cm (metal needles here), or needle size to obtain gauge.
