About the previous owner, Brigadier General Ogden J. Ross Ogden John Ross was a prominent American politician and U.S. Army general from New York. Born in Troy, New York, he studied law and practiced in his hometown. Ross served in the Pancho Villa Expedition of 1916 and fought in World War I as a first lieutenant, earning a citation for valor. He continued his military career in the National Guard, eventually becoming a colonel and later a brigadier general. He played a significant role in the New York State Senate and held various state commissions. His brigade fought in the Pacific theater during World War II.
