Jordanella floridae is a species of killifish from Florida that is renowned for eating hair algae. They are commonly referred to as the "American Flagfish" or "Florida Flagfish" fo r their coincidental resemblance to the American flag; males have a red and pale green pattern of stripes across the body, and a dark, bluish patch on the side is said to represent the canton and stars. These fish are mildly aggressive/territorial, but mix well in community tanks of fish with similar dispositions, such as large danios, certain tetras or cichlids, and most barbs.
