Roy Lichtenstein (American, 1923-1997), created the series American Indian Theme during a period when he worked in Manhattan and Southampton. He spent time near the Shinnecock Indi an Reservation, on the eastern end of Long Island. He combined his pop art style with Native American motifs and imagery to create this unique style of print.
