Very few names loom larger in Italian aromatized wine than Giulio Cocchi (pronounced COKE-ee), who began producing his wines in 1891 in Asti. His bottlings became world-renowned during the Belle Epoque, and the solidification of cocktail culture, but at their core, his wines are still meant to be drank as aperitif wine. Enjoyed over ice, straight-up, or with soda/tonic, his wines are, to this day, wonderfully enjoyable. Representing the link between wine and cocktails, the name "Americano" is derived from two sources: the first being the bittering agent used in the wine (amaricato) and the second being the penchant of Belle Epoque Americans enjoying vermouth with ice and soda. Essential a low-alcohol cocktail in a bottle, Cocchi's Americano Bianco is an apertif wine showing citrus, ginger, rose, gentian and quinine, and can be enjoyed on its own or with a splash of soda. 16.5% ABV
