NAGCO Benzene Specific C₆H₆ detector tubes are designed for the measurement of benzene concentrations using NAGCO pumps and tubes. A pretreatment layer removes interferences, providing selective detection of benzene across a broad concentration range. Specifications: Standard Range: 0.5–10 ppmv Extended Range: 0.25–5 ppmv Extended Range: 1.5–30 ppmv Pump Strokes: 6 / 3 / 1 Sample Volume: 600 / 300 / 100 mL Sample Time: 6 × 3 / 3 × 3 / 3 minutes Correction Factor: 0.27 / 1 / 4 Precision (Relative Standard Deviation): ≤±12% Humidity: No effect, 0–95% RH Temperature Range: 0–40°C (32–104°F) Temperature Correction Factors: 2.7 at 0°C, 1.6 at 10°C, 1.0 at 25°C, and 0.6 at 40°C Storage Life: 1 year in darkness at 5–25°C (40–77°F); refrigeration preferred Color Change: White → Brown Reaction Principle:The pretreatment tube removes potential interferences before the benzene measurement. Benzene reacts through a two-step process involving formaldehyde and sulfuric acid, producing p-quinoid products that create the measurable color change. Cross-Sensitivity:The tube is designed to minimize interference from common gases and hydrocarbons. Testing showed no apparent response from isobutylene, n-heptane, toluene, methane, carbon monoxide, or hydrogen sulfide at the concentrations listed on the datasheet. n-Hexane at concentrations above 100 ppm may reduce the benzene response. m-Xylene produced a measurable response of 5 ppm at a test concentration of 100 ppm. Other Possible Interferences:Hydrocarbons and similar reducing gases may interfere with measurement. Datasheet
