This is a plant that caused quite a stir when it flowered for the first time in 10 years at the Wellington Botanic Gardens New Zealand. As it is pollinated by flies, the unusual flower gives off a very putrid smell which makes getting up close to see the details of the beautiful colour changes a very unpleasant experience! Weird and beautiful with a huge myriad of colours through the spandix and in particular the sheath.
