AMTicide® Coconut is developed by fermenting Cocos nucifera (Coconut) fruit with Lactobacillus to deliver a non-irritating and effective multifunctional product. This product can provide moisturizing and conditioning benefits in hair and skin care applications. Additionally, it is effective at preventing the growth of fungus, specifically yeast and mold, thus providing added protection to any formulation. We always recommend that every formula undergo stability and microbial testing to ensure adequate preservation. Formulation Guidelines: As with all antimicrobials, some attention must paid to the conditions under which AMTicide® Coconut is used. Based on bench-scale evaluations, as well as actual product applications, AMTicide® Coconut has been found to be effective over a wide range of typical cosmetic and personal care product manufacturing conditions. The product has been found to be heat stable up to 70°C and active under both acidic (pH 3) and basic conditions (pH 8). Emulsion SystemsIncorporate AMTicide® Coconut near the end of the formulating process and after the formulation has cooled to below 40°C Surfactant Systems AMTicide® Coconut has excellent compatibility in surfactant systems when added towards the end of the formulating process, after the formulation has cooled to below 40°C Gel/Aqueous Systems: AMTicide® Coconut has excellent compatibility in gel/aqueous systems when added towards the end of the formulating process, after the formulation has cooled to below 40°C Application Ideas: Suitable for O/W emulsions, W/O emulsions, as well as aqueous systems Our Best Recommendation is to start with 4% of AMTicide® Coconut in conjunction with an antimicrobial system effective against bacteria. When using Xanthan Gum - It is compatible at pH great than or equal to 6.3. Creates Clear Gels. Solubilizer does not clear system at lower pH. When Using Nonionic Systems- Compatible at pH greater 7.5; creates clear gels, Solubilizer does not clear gel at a lower pH. Clarity - When a lipophilic peptide such as AMTicide® Coconut interacts with an anionic material, haze may be observed. Add a solubilizer to improve clarity.
