I named this painting “Anais” after the French writer Anais Nin who led a rather unconventional lifestyle, to put it mildly!In case you didn’t watch the early 1990’s movie Henry and June, or delve into the history of creatives in the 1930’s, the married Anais had an affair not only with erotic writer Henry Miller (Tropic of Cancer) unbeknownst to his wife, June, but also (unbeknownst to Henry, at first) with his wife, June. Now read that again.When I finished this painting, I just felt she has an Anais Nin spirit with her partially hidden face, French Beret, and handprint on her cheek which indicates she’s been touched.Incidentally that handprint is mine, the artist.40 x 40 x 1.5Original contemporary painting, acrylic on canvas.
