Course Description+ This course explores the systems of the human body. Students learn the names, locations and characteristics of each system through an exploratory process that includes dissection of animals and human organs. Physiology (mechanics of the human body) is taught through the use of interactive software. Visiting physicians lecture on their own specialties and experiences. The lab portion will consist of dissecting a cat. This course is required for students who are planning to complete the Honors Medical Professions Program.Session dates:Session 2A: 6/29/26 - 7/17/26 (8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.) (EST) - 0.50 credit - IN PERSON BROWARD CAMPUS ONLYSession 3A: 7/20/26 - 8/07/26 (8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.) (EST) - 0.50 credit - IN PERSON BROWARD CAMPUS ONLYPrerequisite: Honors Biology (B- or higher), Honors Medical Terminology (B- or higher), Honors Embryology (B- or higher), AP Biology Concurrent. This course is required for students who are planning to complete the Honors Medical Professions Program. Additional Course Information+ A class may be canceled if fewer than 6 students enroll, and a specific teacher is not guaranteed. It is the parents’ responsibility to check with their child's school when seeking credit for a course. For online courses, the students’ cameras MUST be turned on at all times, and attendance is mandatory. To protect the privacy rights of all, there is absolutely no videotaping or recording by students during the course. Students must be age appropriate for the course, and all students must adhere to proper online etiquette. For online courses, young children must be supervised by a parent at all times.
