(example #1 or #6) Ancient Red Cedar is probably what comes to mind when you think about adding wood to your aquarium. This is a very versatile aquascaping material that allows you to create a natural environment that your fish and plants will love. Driftwood can leech tannins which can cause a slight yellow or brown tint to your water. This is natural and the effects will reduce over time. Boiling the wood prior to use can decrease the tannins leeching. Important note: We recommend rinsing wood thoroughly before adding it to an established aquarium. If you prefer, you may also boil the wood for at least 1-2 hours to help release tannins.
