Unusual strand of ancient beads said to be made from natural shell with possibly also some clay beads mixed in. Shell is among the earliest materials used for ornamental purposes t hroughout the world including the African continent and these beads show the travails of time. An interesting point is that sea shells have also historically been used as a form of currency in African though it is not known if this specific design was used for that purpose. Each strand measures approximately 32" in length with individual beads 14-50 x 18-25mm. The number of beads per strand is variable to the range of bead sizes.
