The Andean Flamingo summarizes that challenge with elegance. In the study, I composed the flamingo in motion, stepping forward, but there was so much action in South America that the composition felt a little exhausting. I changed the flamingo’s posture in the painting to create a moment of pause. The decision fit the wall and bird: if you’re looking to create a statuesque bird in quiet repose, there’s no better candidate than the flamingo. Each study comes with a certificate of authenticity.
