This was my first proper attempt at the beautiful Andromeda galaxy, our closest neighbouring galaxy, approximately 2.5 million light-years from Earth. This piece was captured between June-September 2024, amassing a total exposure time of 20 hours to create the final result. Andromeda spans over 220,000 ;ight-years in diameter and contains over a trillion stars, just like our own sun, many of them with planets and maybe even life! This piece also features Andromeda's satellite galaxies - M32(above the galaxy core) and M110 (below). These dwarf galaxies orbit their colossal neighbour, locked in a gravitational dance across time. One day, around 4.5 billion years from now, Andromeda and our own Milky Way will collide in a spectacular cosmic merger, forming a new galaxy. This piece is a testament to the beauty, scale and wonder of the universe that I am excited to share with you, countless hours of dedication, planning, patience and clear skies went into creating it, and I hope it inspires awe and fascination in all who observe it. There will only ever be 10 prints sold in this edition, printed on stunning Giclée Hahnemühle Photo Rag paper. Each one is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This target was shot with a high quality dedicated astronomy camera using a unique lens, and as such will require framing at 60cm x60cm.
