The Anhinga is a bird of the southern swamps. They are mostly black with silver markings on their wings. Unlike other aquatic birds, the Anhinga’s feathers are not waterproof. This allows them to dive deeper and move more efficiently under water than other birds, but hinders their ability to fly after exiting the water.
