Annah Emathe's early years were filled with joy, tending livestock and playing with her peers. However, her idyllic childhood was shattered when rival tribes attacked her community. Enemy militias, driven by greed and violence, looted livestock and unleashed unimaginable brutality. The conflict fractured her family. While some of Annah’s brothers fled with the surviving livestock and their sisters, others stayed to defend their home but tragically lost their lives. Escaping the violence, Annah and her remaining family sought refuge in Isiolo, only to face a devastating famine that claimed the last of their livestock, leaving them destitute and struggling for survival. In a bid to rebuild her life, Annah married and was fortunate to find a caring husband. He worked as a security guard at Shambani Primary School, and though his earnings were meager, they found solace in each other's company. Together, they created a semblance of stability amidst the challenges. Now in her later years, Annah faces new hardships. Her husband’s limited income is no longer sufficient to meet their needs, and as age takes its toll, Annah struggles with the physical and emotional weight of her circumstances. Fortunately, Mama Ibado Charity has become a vital support system for Annah. Through their seniors' program, she receives essential food rations and support, which have eased the burden of hunger and provided a glimmer of hope. Despite this assistance, Annah’s needs remain significant. She requires additional support to ensure she can live out her days in dignity and comfort.
