Ann Magnolia or Magnolia liliflora x M. stellata 'Ann' is a deciduous magnolia tree (or deciduous shrub) that is loved for its prolific, fragrant, reddish-purple to deep pink, 7-9 inch, goblet-shaped blooms in April-May. The Jane Magnolia is slightly larger than the Ann Magnolia and the flowers have more petals. Additionally, the flowers on the Jane Magnolia are lighter. Care Low maintenance, requires regular watering when young, and benefits from minimal pruning after flowering. Prefers living in full sun to partial shade and likes the soil to be moist, slightly acidic, organic, well-drained soil. Best grown in zones 4-8. Growth Habit Growing 10-15 feet tall and 8-10 feet wide, it is ideal for small gardens, often blooming again in summer.
