The Anna Apple Tree (Malus domestica ‘Anna’) is one of the most reliable fruit trees for warm and mild-winter regions of the United States. Known for its crisp texture, lively sweet-tart flavor, and very low chill requirement, the anna apple tree fruit is especially prized by backyard growers in Southern California, the Southwest, and other areas with mild winters. With its early-ripening harvest, attractive blossoms, and dependable production, the Anna apple tree is a standout performer for gardeners who want an apple variety that thrives where many others struggle. Why Choose the Anna Apple Tree Sweet, Crisp, and Full of Flavor The Anna apple produces large, light yellow-green fruit with a bright red blush. Inside, the apples have creamy white flesh that is firm, juicy, and perfect for fresh eating, baking, applesauce, or dehydrating. Because Anna ripens very early—often from late spring into midsummer—it’s among the first apples ready to harvest each year. Even in warm climates, the trees produce excellent, high-quality fruit. Ideal for Warm Regions The Anna apple tree chill hours requirement is only 200–300 hours, making it well-suited for zones with short, mild winters. It is one of the best low-chill apples available and can even produce a second, lighter crop in ideal weather conditions. To confirm whether Anna grows well in your region, check your USDA zone using our What Is My Growing Zone? tool.
