John (30th Anniversary Pilot Bear - large) “Hello, my name’s John. I’ve been a CareFlight pilot since the very beginning when it all started in 1986, just like my younger brother Henry. It’s hard to believe that it’s been 30 years since our first mission. Flying machines certainly have changed over the years. They are faster, so we can get to accidents more quickly, improving the chance of survival for injured bears and ensuring their best possible recovery. They are better equipped too, so our doctors and nurses have all the resources they need to save lives. One thing that hasn’t changed is the dedication of the entire CareFlight crew… they’re great to work with, and great bears to hang out with between missions. After all these years, there’s still nothing I find more satisfying than zipping up the old CareFlight jacket and flying to the rescue.”
