Join an annual tradition and experience organic, homegrown skateboarding in the backyard of HMI Skate Park in Hope BC! The Backyard Bash is one of the most fun community events in Hope BC. Every September the staff at HMI build some fun and unique obstacles in the backyard for everyone to skateboard on and participate in a Jam format Competition. This event is open to all ages and sees about 200-300 people show up each year. The day is filled with fun in the sun, a BBQ fundraiser, raffles and draws, Live DJ and Bands, Special Guests, and of course a skateboard contest for all to enjoy. In the years past we've had the pleasure of special guests like Kevin Harris, Andy Anderson, and Ricky Glaser and want to continue to support this tradition. 2026 the plan is to build some awesome new ramps and make the Backyard Bash the best one yet by bringing up a special Pro Team from California to do a Skate Demo and Autograph Session and just hang out for the day, plus have our Live DJ, Bands, BBQ, and pay a photographer and filmer to capture the event.
