Anson Bay, Norfolk Island. Open Edition Print. Private and secluded, Anson Bay is one of the island’s most spectacular beaches. The view south over the bay and coastline is stunning and while it is a hike to get down and back up again, that’s what makes the beach that little bit more Elysian and rewarding.Situated on the north west of the island, the bay is the location of Norfolk’s first permanent communication link with the outside world. In 1902 the Pacific Cable Station was established at Anson Bay connecting Norfolk Island with the Pacific Cable which linked Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
