Why the collar is automatic rather than remote An automatic collar acts without you. That is the whole point of it, and it is the right choice for barking that happens when you are not there — at work, asleep, in another room, or simply not watching. A remote-controlled collar does nothing in any of those situations. The trade-off runs the other way too. An automatic collar can occasionally fire on a slammed door or another dog. A deep-voiced large dog may not set it off as reliably. If that describes your dog, ask us before ordering rather than after. The chews are turkey-flavoured and will not suit a turkey-sensitive dog. Keep continuous collar wear under 12 hours, use it during periods you cannot supervise rather than as an all-day fixture, and check the nozzle still points towards the muzzle after walks — nozzle position and sensitivity are the two usual reasons a collar seems to stop working.
