c. 1890s-1910s; Hamilton Manufacturing Co. - Two Rivers, WI Set of ornate wood letterpress printing blocks featuring an elaborate scroll script alphabet, housed in the original sliding wooden storage case. Each block displays a hand-cut capital letter rendered in looping copperplate style typical of late 19th-century stationery, signage, and formal trade cards. The alphabet is arranged in fitted trays with cast-metal latches, likely designed for use in a compositor's or engraver's shop for layout and proofing. Hamilton Manufacturing Co., founded in 1880 in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, became the largest American producer of printer's furniture and type cabinets by the turn of the century. Their precision-cut wood blocks, cases, and type storage systems formed the backbone of countless print shops across the U.S., making their name synonymous with the American letterpress industry.
