A wonderful early 20th century European chocolate mold in the form of a proud rooster wearing a hat. Originally used by confectioners to create hollow chocolate figures—often made for Easter—molds like this were filled with melted chocolate, closed, and gently rotated to coat the interior before revealing the finished figure. With its beautifully detailed feathers and aged metal patina, this piece now makes a striking decorative object for a kitchen, bakery display, or spring vignette. A lovely piece of culinary history and a sculptural nod to traditional European confectionery. The first chocolate molds showed up in France in the 1830s made from stamped sheet copper and typically measured less than inch in diameter, producing simple geometric shapes for mass-market candy production.
