Anubias barteri ‘Round Leaf’ is a robust freshwater aquarium plant known for its distinctive rounded, thick green leaves and extremely hardy nature. It’s a cultivated variety of Anubias barteri, selected for its more compact, oval-to-round foliage that gives aquariums a soft, lush look compared to the more elongated Anubias types. This plant grows slowly and thrives in low to moderate lighting, making it ideal for beginners and low-tech aquariums. It does not require CO₂ injection and is very tolerant of a wide range of water conditions. Like other Anubias, it should be attached to driftwood, rocks, or other hardscape rather than buried in substrate, since its rhizome can rot if covered. Because of its durability and broad leaves, Anubias barteri ‘Round Leaf’ is especially popular in shrimp tanks, cichlid setups, and aquascapes where a tough, low-maintenance plant is needed that still provides strong visual structure and natural greenery.
